Illusion quilt 2016/ Labyrinth Walk.

Nora Jane Roush Allard   posted this quilt to my Facebook page on April 26th . I decided to order the pattern . I ordered the pattern from the Guilty Quilter in Portland Oregon .It arrived on May 5. Pattern and shipping was $16.67  But if you would like to try this pattern Sandy' Sewing in Yakima will be carrying it .  I thought it was cool. And so did several of my friends.,so I decided to blog the journey of this quilt  and show  how I made it mine..
I went shopping for the fabric ,only needed 4 colors Batiks is what it called for .3 yards of black ,Dark Gray and light gray. 2 yards of White .About $140 for the fabric. With my Go cutter I can probably use less fabric but not taking chances . I will use 3.5 inch strip cutter, 3.5 half square triangle die and my chisel die

But for now I think about it for a couple of days , I still have to  get a small quilt quilted for Sally and a bag made for a coworker

300 four patches and my accuquilt go /Tops weigh in

Great news down another 5 pounds this week yea
Working on Celtic solace Quilt and for step 4 I need 300 four patches to finish at 3 and 1/2 inches
This is My 2 inch strip cutter marked in 2 inch increments. I cut all of my strips first. One pass through can yield 12 strips .Then sewed them together with a quarter inch seam allowance.
Then I lined them up on the 2 inch lines and cut again

This is how it looks afterwards with minimal waste  . Now to match the center seam and stitch the 4 patch

Here are my patches waiting to be sewed together
This one pass through the accuquilt go gave me 100 4 patches sewn in groups of 10 on my stretching bands
waiting to be ironed. I probably should have been exercising instead. But this is funner and faster

Remember the ninja cooker I got my hubby for Christmas after hearing all about it at the guild Christmas party  I wanted one so got it for him . He likes it so well he has ordered a 2nd one off of ebay ..Looks like the typical crock pot is now a thing of the past at our house

This is Bonnie Hunter's  finished quilt that she keeps at her cabin I have high hopes for this quilt It will finish at 111 X 111 inches
I have been hibernating since it snowed on Tuesday. So my steps have been under 5000 steps all week. This is my favorite spot to hang out I missed BSF but have next week's lesson done .Health stream is done .
Cleaned out my pantry and packed up my medifast . Posted on Facebook to sell at $5 a box but no one is interested Still trying to do Paleo Mixed wild salmon and mayo with celery tonight . But when I spend to much time at home next to the kitchen it is hard not to nibble  My nibbles have been cheese and almonds .I have not been able to give up the dairy Baked Sweet Potatoes are in the back fridge  ready for a meal
The weather is suppose to get up to 50 today with 70 mile an hour winds I assume when I wake up to go to work the ice will be gone

Back to work tonight .

I think I will make a graditude list fir today
1.I am thankful my life and my health
2.I am thankful for my husband  and the influence he has had in my life.I am really grateful His term as potentate is over  and His braces are done
3. I am thankful for my Son .He makes me smile. And of course I am thankful for Amego . He loves me no matter what mood I am in
4 I am grateful for my family . This is my neice who has stood by me and encouraged me since she was 16
She has always been there to brighten my day .We have good memories of her teenage years and She is the 1st person I taught to quilt You should see her Journey Quilt It is amazing

Jan 2 Plugging along

This is my sister and I  3 years  ago after a family reunion .She was at a nursing home in Hutchison KS .I took her a peice of pie from the Amish restraunt , Carriage Crossing.
Her blood sugar was really high that night  but she seemed very Happy having seen all of the family .Her eyes really lighted up when she saw Shelby her grandson

I have been working on sashing some embroidery blocks for a friend  named Peggy. Still have to quilt it
This was the last time I saw Beverly over labor day weekend . She was at the University of Kansas the day after her second leg was amputated Her thoughts then were of her grandson Shelby He held the key to her heart
I drank 4 bottles of water today and only 2 diet cokes I have been really tired today.Slept most of the day
Not many steps either . But I ate a baked sweet potatoe and hamburger pattie about noon and a bowl of glutten free GMO free rice crispies with a banana . Kinda hungry now but fasting for labwork

Jan 1 2014 Starting a new year

I am trying my luck at eating different .Today I wrapped up 3 sweet potatoes in foil  and placed in the ninja cooker overnight on low crock pot mode . I want to try Paleo diet because it is gluten free . It also has no grains or legumes which is what my family loves . I would be lying if I told you I did not love them to . For the last 4 months I have been craving chunky peanutbutter and cheese . Tommorrow I have labwork done I am sure it will not be what the doctor likes Unfortunately I have gained back all of the weight I lost on medifast.Work is doing a biggest loser contest but I will be the real loser if I do not get on board with this

It also wants ne not to use artificial sweetners like Diet Coke  If anyone knows me They will know that is what I love .To say I won't drink diet coke is to set myself up for failure . So my plan for today is to make sure I drink a big bottle of water before I drink my diet coke. That seems do able.

QUILTING NEWS:

Part 1 of Bonnie Hunters Celtic Solstice mystery quilt is done

Part 3 is almost done  Still have 2,4,and 5  to do before I finishh the king size quilt.I started  it on Black Friday

Back to Day One

The first Picture was before I started trying to lose weight I had just got my fitbit and was monitoring my steps. I went to Charlotte North Carolina with my husband  My goal has been 5000 steps a day. The reason I choose 5000 steps was from a book I got at Tops called My Day One which said under 5000 steps a day was sedentary .I watched my Cholesterol go from 200 to 133, My HDL from 22 to 30 .I started feeling better with much more energy . I was using Medifast also because it was gluten free
But then one day  I filled out one of my orders wrong and got ticked because I was charged shipping So I cancelled it all and thought I could so it on my own . I stopped eating my lean and geen meals and used a protein bar I found at Costco  Started with 1 a day then before I knew it it was 3 or 4 a day  Why was I shocked that I gained 3 weeks in a row and the last week 4 pounds ,I have to stop.I do not want to go back to July 4th 2012
So I swallowed my pride and realized nobody cared about $13,30 in shipping but me .I was the one that did not review the order before sending it and $15 more it would have been free shipping. Today I placed another order I know it is enough for free shipping
I came home from my Tops Christmas Dinner with a renewed spirit and prayed that God would help me achieve my heath back . I needed to write down why I like losing weight  I needed to record what it was like what happened and what it is like now
So today I am back to Day One I will come back to this post when I need to remember.

Quilted heart

I quilted it at Sandy's  sewing. Liked how it looked
It has been busy week mailed out 3 table runners on wensday. Then cut out 4 pair of pajama bottoms and 2 tops.
When I spend so much time sewing I set my timer for 30 minutes then walk 10 times from back door to front door.

Amego  has been going down to the basement hanging out with Tim.
Tuesday night had dinner with my husband Terry at Peking Palace. They get there soy sauce from China so it is not fermented in wheat so many of the foods on the menu is gluten free.

This quilt had been quilted several years ago at quilt retreat on a domestic machine but I could not stand the quilting so off to the top of the closet it went .This is  a picture of Lois and I ripping out all of the quilting  Took about 2 hours using my new tool the eyebrow shaper. None of the top was messed up either I could not stand to throw it away and I could not stand to use  the quilt I am so glad I ripped it out. Tomorrow I will post a picture of it after It is re-quilted
I mailed out 3 table runners this week and took 1 to the Christmas party It was at 2 am Wensday morning .Delora Luthy picked out the package .

I have read Keepers of the Salt by Debbie Davis It was very good book. It discussed covenant and How we build it ,How we lose, And the internal consequences of violating covenant  . My Kindle Touch  reads to me while I sew

These 3 came from Walmart for $2.67.They are excellent seam rippers especially for very small stitches.
Terry went to Sunnyside for an Eastern Star initiation and meeting
I am listening to Patchwork Dreams by Laura Hilton on my Kindle while I sew. Love my kindle touch because of text to speech feature
